Abstract

Healthcare systems are increasingly challenged by rapid technological change, workforce shortages, escalating healthcare costs, demographic transitions, emerging disease threats, and growing demands for equitable, high-quality care. Addressing these multifaceted challenges requires healthcare professionals and organizations to move beyond conventional clinical expertise by embracing entrepreneurial thinking that fosters innovation, adaptability, strategic leadership, and sustainable value creation. Although numerous entrepreneurship theories and models exist, most were developed for commercial enterprises and do not adequately reflect the ethical, organizational, regulatory, and policy complexities that characterize healthcare systems.This paper introduces the BRISK³ Mind Model as a novel conceptual framework designed to cultivate entrepreneurial mindsets among healthcare professionals, healthcare organizations, and health system leaders. The framework seeks to integrate entrepreneurship, healthcare management, innovation, and public policy into a unified model capable of supporting healthcare transformation and long-term system resilience.A conceptual research design was adopted using an integrative review and synthesis of multidisciplinary literature on entrepreneurship, healthcare innovation, organizational leadership, health systems strengthening, implementation science, and public policy. Relevant theoretical perspectives were critically examined and synthesized to develop the proposed conceptual framework.The BRISK³ Mind Model comprises six interdependent dimensions: Business Opportunity Recognition, Risk Intelligence, Innovation Capability, Strategic Leadership, Knowledge Capital, and three foundational entrepreneurial mindsets—Growth Mindset, Systems Mindset, and Value-Creation Mindset. The model proposes that the interaction of these dimensions enhances healthcare professionals' and organizations' capacity to identify opportunities, manage uncertainty, stimulate innovation, lead organizational change, translate knowledge into practice, and create sustainable value across healthcare systems.The BRISK³ Mind Model extends existing entrepreneurship literature by providing a healthcare-specific conceptual framework that integrates entrepreneurial thinking with leadership, innovation, and health system transformation. The framework offers practical guidance for healthcare professionals, educators, administrators, entrepreneurs, and policymakers while providing a theoretical foundation for future empirical validation and the development of standardized measurement instruments.
