Consistency is essential

Whichever citation style you choose, apply it consistently throughout your entire manuscript — in the body text, footnotes, and reference list. Inconsistent referencing is one of the most common reasons manuscripts are returned to authors before peer review.

Review Process

Peer Review Policy

BJCR operates a single-blind peer review process. Reviewers are aware of the authors' identities and institutional affiliations, but authors are not informed of reviewer identities. This approach allows reviewers to contextualise the research appropriately while maintaining an honest, candid review process.

Initial Editorial Screening

Every submission undergoes a desk review for scope fit, originality, language quality, and adherence to our author guidelines. Manuscripts not meeting the basic threshold are returned promptly.

Peer Review Assignment

Suitable manuscripts are assigned to at least two expert reviewers with relevant subject knowledge, drawn from our editorial board or external reviewer network.

Review Decision

Reviewers provide a structured recommendation: Accept, Minor Revision, Major Revision, or Reject. All recommendations are accompanied by constructive written feedback.

Editorial Decision

The Editor-in-Chief reviews all reviewer feedback and makes the final editorial decision, which is communicated to the author along with reviewer comments.

Submit via our online portal at bexfordpublishing.co.uk. You will receive an automated acknowledgement with your unique tracking ID (e.g., BEX_JUN_26_001).

Editorial Screening

Initial assessment by the editorial team within 3–5 working days. Authors are notified of the outcome promptly.

Peer Review

Suitable manuscripts undergo single-blind peer review. Most reviews are completed within 3–5 working days.

Decision & Revision

Authors receive the editorial decision with reviewer feedback. Revisions should be submitted with a response letter addressing each comment.

APC Payment

Upon acceptance, authors receive an invitation to pay the Article Processing Charge (APC). The payment link is sent automatically.

06

Proof Generation

The accepted manuscript is typeset using our BJCR template. Authors receive a proof for final approval.

07

Publication

Upon proof approval, the article is assigned a DOI and published online immediately with full open access.

Bexford Publishing is committed to the highest standards of publication ethics. Our policies are aligned with international best practices.

Publication Ethics & Originality +
All manuscripts must be original, unpublished, and not under consideration elsewhere. Authors must accurately represent their research, properly attribute all sources, and avoid any form of plagiarism, data fabrication, or falsification. We use editorial screening and plagiarism detection tools to verify submitted manuscripts. Ghost authorship, gift authorship, and honorary authorship are not permitted.
Authorship & Contributorship +
All listed authors must have made a substantial, direct, and intellectual contribution to the work. Authorship disputes must be resolved before submission. Changes to authorship after submission — including additions, deletions, or reordering — require written consent from all authors and editorial approval. AI tools (such as ChatGPT or other language models) may not be listed as authors.
Conflict of Interest +
Authors must disclose any financial, personal, or professional relationships that may influence the research or its interpretation. Reviewers must declare any conflicts of interest and recuse themselves from reviewing manuscripts where such conflicts exist. The editorial team operates independently and bases decisions solely on academic merit.
Data Integrity & Availability +
Research data underlying published articles should be retained by the authors and made available upon reasonable request. Where applicable, authors are encouraged to deposit data in a recognised public repository and cite the dataset in the manuscript. Fabrication or selective reporting of data is grounds for immediate rejection or post-publication retraction.
Corrections & Retractions +
Errors identified after publication should be reported to the editorial office immediately. Minor errors are addressed through published corrections. Significant errors affecting the integrity of the findings may require retraction. Retractions are issued transparently and the reason stated clearly in the published record.
Peer Review Integrity +
Reviewers are expected to provide honest, constructive, and confidential reviews. Reviewers must not use unpublished information from submitted manuscripts for personal advantage. Authors may suggest preferred reviewers but the editorial team retains sole discretion over reviewer selection.
Cancellation & Refund +
Authors may request a full refund if the cancellation request is received at least 10 days prior to the scheduled publication date. Once the typesetting and proof generation process has commenced, cancellation fees may apply. Refund requests must be made in writing via the contact form.
Open Access & Copyright +
All articles published in BJCR are made immediately and permanently free to access. Authors retain copyright and grant Bexford Publishing a licence to publish. Articles are published under an open access licence permitting use, distribution, and reproduction for non-commercial purposes, provided the original work is properly cited.
