Abstract

The rapid development of Artificial Intelligence has significantly transformed contemporary society, and its influence is increasingly reflected in modern English literature. Writers explore AI not merely as a technological innovation but as a powerful force that challenges traditional ethical, moral, and human values. This paper examines how English literature represents the ethical dilemmas emerging in the age of AI, such as the question of human agency, responsibility, privacy, creativity, and the boundary between human and machine intelligence. Literary texts often portray AI as both a tool of progress and a source of existential anxiety, raising concerns about dehumanization, loss of emotional authenticity, and moral accountability. Through speculative fiction, dystopian narratives, and contemporary novels, authors critically engage with fears surrounding surveillance, algorithmic bias, and the replacement of human judgment by machines. The study highlights how literature serves as a reflective space where ethical conflicts related to AI are imagined, questioned, and humanized. By analysing these narratives, the paper argues that English literature plays a crucial role in fostering ethical awareness and encouraging responsible engagement with AI technologies. Ultimately, literature reminds readers that technological advancement must remain grounded in human values, empathy, and moral responsibility.
