<p>Insecurity in Nigerias southeast has become a dominant media theme, with coverage often focusing on violent attacks. The study attempts to examine how the public in impoverished in the southeast region of Nigeria perceives media representation of insecurity and how such perceptions shape attitudes and behaviour. The studay is anchored on Agenda- setting and media Fraing. It adopted a mixed method aprroach for quantitative and qualitative data collection with a sample size of 384 respondents.and IDI to elicit qualitative data. The major findings among othera was that media representation of insecurity in southeast has not been satisfactory and its largely sensational, biased and threat focused. The study concludes that media represention does not only mirror insecurity but actively was emeshed wiht propaganda and dis-information by thnically profiling of IPOB and ESN which evoled threats fears, provocations, violence and inciting tendencies. The study recommends a solution-focused and development oriented reporting that will promote media convergence to advance peace and stability in southeast among others.</p>
