This study examined the effect of procurement process quality on the project performance of Taraba Road Construction and Maintenance Agency in Taraba State, Nigeria. Specifically, the study investigated the influence of open bidding, public bid opening, and e-procurement systems on project performance measured by schedule adherence, cost performance, and quality compliance. The study was anchored on Agency Theory (Jensen & Meckling, 1976). A quantitative survey research design was adopted. The target population comprised 1,900 TARCMA staff, from which a sample of 320 respondents was selected using stratified random sampling. A structured questionnaire was used for data collection, with reliability established using Cronbach's Alpha (α = 0.85). Data were analysed using multiple regression analysis. The findings revealed that open bidding has a statistically significant effect on project performance (β = 0.241, p < .001). Public bid opening showed the strongest positive relationship with project performance (β = 0.372, p < .001). E-procurement systems also demonstrated a statistically significant effect (β = 0.305, p < .001). The regression model was significant (F = 164.782, p < .001), with an R Square value of 0.615. Consequently, all three null hypotheses were rejected. The study concludes that procurement process quality significantly influences TARCMA's project performance. It is recommended that TARCMA should strengthen open bidding practices, institutionalize public bid opening sessions, and accelerate e-procurement adoption. The study contributes empirical evidence on procurement-performance relationships in Taraba State, validating Agency Theory in the Nigerian subnational public procurement context.
