      <abstract><p>The study examines the impact of X-irradiation and fertilization on the proximate nutrient profile of Dioscorea rotundata, focusing on how fertilization and X-irradiation influences the composition. The samples were analysed for ash content, moisture content, crude fat, crude fibre, crude protein, and carbohydrates before and after irradiation for inorganic as well as for the unfertilized samples which served as a control. The results show that both irradiation at a dose range of 0.32-0.94kGy and fertilization method produce notable effects on the proximate nutrient profile with significant increase in moisture content (p-value &lt; 0.01). A reduction in ash content and crude fat content was observed in the unfertilized samples. For inorganically fertilized samples, the result demonstrated minimal reduction in ash and crude fat following irradiation (p-value &lt; 0.01), with a significant rise in moisture content (p-value &lt; 0.01).
